Student Assistant to the Associate Director of Residence Life

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Residence Life, tasks will include: handling confidential material, writing letters to residents, creating and distributing inter-office memos, writing material for various newsletters/publications, taking messages, office organization, checking and distributing e-mail, the creation/modification of documents and assisting with and organizing the checkout of keys to professional and student staff members. The position will also entail running errands on and off campus, assisting other University Housing officials, helping with customer service at the front desk and special projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful applicant must be a registered student at the University of Oregon and remain a registered student throughout the period of employment. Undergraduate students must be registered for a minimum of 8 credit hours; graduate students must be registered for a minimum of 3 credit hours. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to operate confidentially and posses the maturity and ability to work unsupervised. They must be flexible, communicate effectively, have excellent writing/editing skills, the capacity to adapt to a changing work environment, and the ability to work well with coworkers, residents and the general public. Computer skills are a must. Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel, Publisher and various e-mail programs is desired. In addition, a one-year commitment and working through the summer is required in order to facilitate adequate job continuity.
Hourly Rate: Starting wage is $8.40 hour
