Dining Services Manager/Chef

The Dining Services Manager/Chef position provides day to day management of one or more of University Housing’s eight separate dining venues as assigned. Dining venues can include Big Mouth Burrito, Common Grounds Café, Fire n’ Spice Grill, Grab n Go Market, Barnhart Dining, Carson Dining, Fresh! MarketCafe and DUX Bistro. Individual units operate varying hours that can include breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night meal service from 7am to 2am seven days a week. This position is part of a team of managers who provide supervision and leadership to these units with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer service and culinary excellence. Budgetary responsibility will include the allocation of staff and purchasing of foods and supplies. This position determines the number of meals to prepare, amount of supplies to order, number of employees needed and the scheduling of staff. This position directs the menu, service standards, food safety procedures, purchasing, staff training, personnel management and all related work of the units assigned.

The Dining Services Manager/Chef supervises approximately 40 classified staff and 100 student staff. This position reports to the Assistant Director Residential Dining.

Accounting Technician

The Accounting Technician is a full-time, SEIU represented position that provides support in the University Housing Business Office for the accounting department and purchasing operation. Primary responsibilities are accounts payable related, processing invoices and documents using various accounting methods. The position requires bookkeeping skills to record, examine and reconcile expenditure and revenue transactions and records for accountability in accordance with statutory requirements, university policy, and general accounting principles and procedures. The complex nature of this position requires the ability and skill to track transactions and/or errors through an account from initiation to resolution. This position also performs duties related to cash handling and cash account reconciliation and processing.

This position will apply relevant general accounting principles, procedures and controls to functional areas on accounts receivable, accounts payable and fund accounts for accurate and timely processing and reporting. The person in this position will apply accurate coding to invoices in preparation for payment processing, will assist in relating revenues and expenditures to appropriate accounts, and will correct accounting errors and coding problems using internal procedures and controls needed to maintain accurate accounting records. Skill in prioritizing daily work is required.

Facilities Services Coordinator (Floor Care)

This position provides direct support to University Housing Facilities Managers by providing information, training, and direction of work efforts to trades maintenance and custodial staff. This position coordinates and oversees manual, unskilled, semiskilled, and custodial workers in the maintenance, repair, cleaning, conference and catering room-setups for University Housing residence halls, family housing, dining facilities, and grounds. This position assists Facilities Managers through evaluating customer service and work requests with an emphasis on potential impact to resident well-being, safety, and academic success, validating requirements, and prioritizing requests based on urgency. This position is supervised by a Facilities Manager and does not directly supervise custodial and trades maintenance personnel, however, it provides oversight of work under the guidance of a Facilities Manager’s supervision.

The Facilities Services Coordinator makes decisions on work priorities, distribution of work, quality of service, supply and equipment needs, emergency versus non-emergency repair needs, necessary cosmetic repairs and repair routing. Position also must enforce and follow operating procedures covered in Facilities Employee Guide and be familiar with safety awareness materials and MSDS guide and follow respectful work place guidelines in support of organization’s goals. These decisions aid in prioritizing work, increasing safety awareness, ensuring standards of sanitation maintenance are maintained and supporting the goals of the division.

Warehouse Worker (2 positions)

The Warehouse Worker makes deliveries between residence halls housing the 4,000+ students and works in the Central Warehouse areas. While providing this support, the position will interact with faculty, management staff, classified staff and resident student customers in a helpful and courteous manner. This position adheres to the Service Standards set by Housing Food Services and sets the example for other level positions by exhibiting appropriate professional behavior creating a respectful and inclusive work environment.

On a daily basis, the Warehouse Worker drives a delivery truck, forklift and operates a hand truck. This person interacts with a variety of people throughout the day and must be courteous and cooperative. They must perform expected duties and use equipment and supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner. They will follow instructions and training of the supervisor and/or directions provided on equipment and supply labels and use accepted practices within the classification at all times.

This position leads the work of student staff and reports to the Assistant Director of Dining – Culinary Operations.

Office Specialist 2

The Service Center Specialist will coordinate and facilitate the operations, including supervision of students, in two Housing Service Centers located in the residence halls. The person in this position must maintain a positive, high level of customer service and strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA. This position provides oversight in the operations of student-staff selections for all centers. The Housing Service Centers serve as the test centers for new on-line technologies and, as such, this position is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, documenting, and assisting with implementation of new technologies in partnership with UO Library Services, Academic Initiatives, ResNet and Resident Systems.

The incumbent will effectively delegate work to student workers to ensure efficient usage of student staff for the Housing Service Centers. They will direct data input to ensure accuracy for student move-ins/outs and associated charges. They must prioritize tasks to ensure completion and accuracy based on the need for various reports/rosters. They will monitor key security and lock changes, make equipment purchases for resident check-out and monitor key security and lock changes and provide feedback on resident petitions.

The Service Center Specialist supervises the Student Service Center Assistants and two Lead Service Center Assistants. The Service Center Specialist reports to and work is reviewed by the Housing Service Center Manager.
