Community Conversations are topical events presented in engaging environments. Be a part of a discussion panel or a debate; or bring your friends to a field research trip, author book talks, or performing arts productions.

Crash Course
Can’t get into a course you would love to take? No problem. Crash Course allows you to take a condensed version of the same course, FOR FREE! For a couple of hours, you get a “crash course” of a subject that interests you.

I Hate Math! Club
Get together with others to explore different ways to make learning math fun and to improve in those pesky math and science classes! Led by Randy Sullivan, faculty fellow for Carson and Walton. All students are welcome.

Explorations in Molecular Gastronomy

Food, explosions, and science! Join Chef Doug Lang and Randy Sullivan of the chemistry department as they apply modern scientific principles to the art of cooking to produce new and exciting high-tech dishes: a deconstructed salad, sous vide chicken, and cryogenic custard. Bon apétit!

Economic Impact of Higher Education

College is expensive. But the costs of that expense are more than just money. Come discuss how the university budget affects students, the impact that the cost of education has on UO’s diversity, and ways that we can support each other as we seek solutions.

The Zombie Apocalypse

A zombie apocalypse could happen. In order to be prepared, this session will explore how we will be impacted and how we can use our personal resources and skills to survive. There will be a discussion that explores well-being, resilience, our connections with others, and how our interdependence may change.
