"My best friend is a sophmore and she really wanted to live on campus for one more year. She chose on campus housing because it's central, it's easier to be involved on campus and you save the environment by saving yourself from the commute. From word of mouth I've heard that it's also easier to make friends and meet new people if you continue to live on campus."

FAQ

Will residents participating in Room Race have to run in a physical race?
No, Room Race is the online sign-up process for the residence halls. No running required.

Why am I not guaranteed a single room?
Availability is determined by occupancy projections for the next year. In low occupancy years, more singles are available. In high-occupancy years, fewer singles are offered so that University Housing can accomodate as many students as possible.

Why aren't all of the halls a part of Room Race?
In low occupancy years, more halls are available in Room Race and in higher occupancy years, fewer halls are available in Room Race.

Why do residents returning to the halls for a third year (Marathon Racers) get to reserve their rooms earlier than residents returning for their second year (10K racers)?
Priority is given to those students who live in the halls the longest. That way, the longer you stay, the more likely you are likely to get exactly the room you want.

Will I be able to review my potential roommate's profile?
Yes, if your potential roommate made the information public. No, if your potential roommate chose to keep the information private.

When will I be able to log in to fill out my Room Race application and roommate matching questionaire?
On or after April 15.

Will there be ADA accessible rooms offered in Room Race?
Yes, but you should contact Barbara Nunez (email: hoununez@uoregon.edu, phone: (541) 346-5228) if you have specific needs.

If I'm returning to the halls for my second year of residency, when will I get to start participating in Room Race?
You will get to select a room on or after May 6.

If I'm returning to the halls for my third year of residency, when will I get to start participating in Room Race?
You will get to select a room on or after May 4.

What is the Gender Equity Hall?
Residents of this hall (and only this hall) can choose to room with a student of any gender. This includes same gender roommates, different gender roommates or other gender-identity roommate pairings. If you would like to select a roommate who is not currently a resident, please contact Assistant Director of Residence Life, Grant Schoonover at (541) 346-4218 or grantsch@uoregon.edu.

When will I receive a residence hall contract?
Contracts will be delivered to your campus mailbox one or two days after Room Race ends. You will need to sign and return your contract with the $250 prepayment by June 12, 2009.
