What is Room Race?

No running shoes required!

Room Race is the free, online sign-up process for students to return to the residence halls. Rather than get assigned a space and a roommate, you get to chose from the available options online. Students who live in the residence halls for the 2008-9 academic year and students awarded a space via University Housing at Stadium Park Apartments are eligible to participate in Room Race 2009.

Room Race participants either qualify as 10K Racers or Marathon Racers depending on how long they have lived in the halls.

Marathon Racers = If 2009-10 will be at least your 3rd year in the halls, you qualify as a Marathon Racer. This means you get to pick a room starting at 6 p.m. on May 4.

10K Racers = If 2009-10 will be your second year in the halls, or if you live in Stadium Park Apartments (as part of University Housing) you qualify as a 10K Racer. This means you get to pick a room starting at 6 p.m. on May 6.

NEW This Year: Gender Equity Hall

Whether you are simply interested in how gender roles shape society or just enjoy living among people of differing genders, you want to live in a community committed to gender equity. Residents of this hall (and only this hall) can choose to room with a student of any gender. This includes same gender roommates, different gender roommates or other gender-identity roommate pairings. Put simply, in this community anyone can choose to share a room with anyone else. Residents of this hall are generally upperclass and returning students. The Gender Equity Hall is on the fifth floor of Carson in Wing B.

Why Race?

Take over a whole floor! If you get enough friends together, you can create your very own "experienced-student" neighborhood!

When you live in the halls, you don't have to worry about the battle of the bills, or who gets to clean the bathroom - it's all taken care of for you!
