"The environment in general is fabulous. The community is strong and focused on academics and having a good and safe time. The friends that I've made are wonderful as well."

Rules of the Race

Eligibility
You must be a current residence hall student to be eligible. In order to login in you must have your assigned Room Race Access Code, which was sent to your 'uoregon' email account on April 15. If you lose your access code, you can have it emailed to you again.

Marathon Racers: If 2009-10 will be at least your 3rd year in the halls, you qualify as a Marathon Racer and get to pick your room before everyone else, starting on May 4, at 6 p.m.

10K Racers: If 2009-10 will be your 2nd year in the halls, you qualify as a 10K Racer and get to pick your room starting on May 6, at 6 p.m.

Roommate Requests
If you have filled out the roommate request section of Room Race:

  • Current residents have priority, which means that in the event that you select a room and the roommate that you have requested is not a current resident, a current resident may override your roommate choice and become your roommate instead.

  • If you select an opposite gender roommate, you are only eligible to live in the Gender Equity Hall (Carson, 5th floor, wing B).
  • Both roommates (if both current residents) must complete the entire Room Race process:
    1. Both must fill out the online Room Race application (Step 1).
    2. Both must request/confirm each other as roommates (Step 2). It is best to do Step 1 and 2 before room selection starts.
    3. Provided roommate requests are confirmed, whichever roommate selects a room first reserves the room for both roommates. If a roommate request is not confirmed, the roommate who selects a room reserves the room for him/herself and bookmarks the room for the requested roommate. The requested roommate can be "bumped" from the room by another Room Race participant until he/she confirms the roommate request.
    4. Both roommates must sign and return their residence hall contracts by June 12, 2009.

University Housing Disclaimer
University Housing reserves the right to make assignments at any time based on the administrative needs of the housing program. This includes, but is not limited to, location of special-interest halls, consolidation of space, and/or sanctions as a result of conduct or contract violations. Room types, special-interest halls, and available rooms are subject to change.

To Be Determined (TBD)
The gender of some rooms in Room Race is marked "TBD" or "to be determined". This indicates that the gender is not yet set, and that you can claim the room for you and a roommate of the same gender if you choose it as a double.
