Student Message: End of Fall Term and Winter Break

This message was sent to all residents on November 16, 2021.

As we near the end of fall term and begin preparing for winter break and winter term, please take note of the following dates, deadlines, and instructions.

End of Term Plans Form

Please complete the End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on your My Housing account by Sunday, December 6. Indicate when you will be leaving for winter break, if you need housing for winter break, and if you are returning for winter term. Submit End of Term Plans

Moving Out

If you are not living on campus winter term, you must submit your End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on My Housing, remove all of your belongings, and return your keys to your Housing Service Center by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10. If you move out any time after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, you will be charged for a minimum of the first 10 days room and board for winter term. Should you be continuing as a student at the UO, please review the Residence Hall Contract for information on the termination fees.

Staying for Winter Term

If you are continuing to live on campus winter term, please complete the End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on your My Housing account by Sunday, December 6. You must leave within 24 hours of your last final or by 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, whichever comes first. You will keep your room and mailbox keys over the break. You may leave belongings in your room but you will not be able to access your room during the break so pack your belongings accordingly.

Late Stay Request

You may request to stay past 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, for an additional $33 per day. You will need to provide supporting documentation as part of your request. To request to stay late, please complete the End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on your My Housing account by Monday, December 6.

Winter Break Housing

Since the residence halls are closed over winter break, there is an additional fee of $726 for students who elect to stay on campus. Winter break residents may be moved into temporary rooms to allow for better campus safety or maintenance during this period of low occupancy. To sign up for winter break housing, please complete the End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on your My Housing account by Monday, December 6.

Dining

University Housing dining venues will not be available over winter break (December 11-December 31), and your points will not roll over from fall to winter term. Meal points will be prorated for finals week (December 5-10) and Saturday, January 1. Your regular weekly point allotment will resume the week of January 2. Visit our website for more information on dining venue hours and prorated points.

New Roommate May Move In

If your room has a vacant space in it, our staff will be entering over winter break to prepare the space for a new roommate. Please be sure all your belongings are on your side of the room. In the event that you come back from winter break and find a new roommate, we hope that you will extend them a warm UO welcome.

Maintenance and Custodial

University Housing staff will enter your room during the break for custodial work, bathroom inspections, maintenance work, or sanitation reasons. Prior to departing for winter break, be sure to clean your in-room bathroom and take out your trash to avoid fines. Submit Fix It requests on My Housing for any items that need maintenance or inspection.

Winter Term Opening

Residence halls open for winter term at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1. Please note: Services will be limited on January 1, due to the holiday. Housing service center and dining hours will resume on January 2.

Please review your End of Fall Term 2021 Plans Form on My Housing. If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this email or call or text our office at 541-346-4277.
