Student Message: Return to Winter Term and COVID-19 Testing

This message was sent to all residence hall students on December 28, 2020.

Dear Student,

We hope you are enjoying the winter break and we are looking forward to having you back on campus. Here is some important information about your return to your residence hall and COVID-19 testing requirements.

COVID-19 Testing

When you return after winter break, you will be permitted to enter your residence hall room, residential dining venues, and restroom facilities prior to your COVID-19 test. However, you will need to self-isolate until you get your test results. All students will resume their COVID-19 testing between January 2 and January 5, 2021. Please note that this testing will take place at MacArthur Court on University Street and not at Matthew Knight Arena.

To schedule your required COVID-19 test, visit your My Housing portal and select your upcoming assignment under the My Assignment tab. Schedule your testing date as close to your return date as possible. Once you check in for your round one test, you will schedule your round two test to occur between January 6 and January 12.

For your health and safety and that of the community and per your residence hall contract and/or addendum, this COVID-19 testing is a requirement of living in the residence halls. Failure to comply with the COVID-19 testing requirements will result in not being able to live in the residence halls.

Waiting for your test results

You will need to stay in your room (self-isolate) from the time you return to your residence hall until the time your COVID-19 results are received. You may only leave to take your scheduled COVID-19 test, use restroom facilities, and pick-up meals from residential dining facilities. Once you receive a COVID-19 testing result that is negative (“not detected”), you will be able to use all open campus and community facilities. Unfortunately, guests and family members of returning students will not be permitted in the residence halls.

If you receive a positive COVID-19 test result, the UO Care Team will work with you on isolation requirements. For more information on isolation and quarantine, visit
