Student Message: Unpack the Quack

These messages were sent to students on Thursday, September 15 and are available in their My Housing portal.

Early Arrivals (prior to September 22)

Move-in day is almost here! Here are a few reminders to help make move-in day a success:

Review Move-In Information

Once logged into your My Housing portal, select the Moving In graphic on your My Assignment tab to view information about your check-in date and time.

Checking In

Check-in will take place at the housing service center for your residence hall. Your service center information is on the My Assignment tab in My Housing. For early arrivals, there are no designated unloading zones and there are university parking areas and city parking areas throughout campus.

At your housing service center, you will be greeted by University Housing staff to provide you with your key or fob to your residence hall room. You will need your UO ID or government–issued ID.

Once you check-in, you can move-in to your hall!

Submit your ID Photo

Don't forget to submit your ID photo right away if you have not already done so! You will need your UO ID card to access your meal plan and the doors to your residence hall.

Volunteer

As a student moving into the residence halls early, you have an opportunity to help other Ducks move in. If you volunteer for Unpack the Quack, you will receive credit for one free early arrival night! After completing your volunteer shift, your student account will be credited for one night of early arrival.

Unpack the Quack: Stepmber 22–23

Move-in day is almost here! Here are a few reminders to help make move-in day a success:

Review Move-In Information

Once logged into your My Housing portal, select the Moving In graphic on your My Assignment tab to view information about your check-in date and time, a map of where to unload, and an unloading permit. Please be sure to review this information in My Housing (and below) and print the maps and unloading permit ahead of time.

Check-In Date and Time

To view your scheduled check-in date and time, please log into your My Housing portal and select the My Assignment tab to view your upcoming assignment information. Arrive only during your scheduled check-in time. You will be directed to an early arrival parking lot if you arrive prior to your check-in time.

Print Unloading Permit

You need to print out your unloading permit to be able to drive on to campus. It is required to give you access to your unloading zone on campus at your check-in time. The roads on campus will be closed to everyone except those with an Unpack the Quack unloading permit. You will be directed to an early arrival parking lot if you arrive prior to your check-in time. Your unloading permit is unique to you and can be found on your My Housing portal.

Review Move-In Map

Each residence hall has a designated route in order to assist with traffic flow, which is different based on your residence hall. Your map will include arrival routes for your hall, unloading zones, and your hall's check-in location.

Unpack the Quack volunteers and support staff will assist your guests to unload your vehicle (only one vehicle allowed) in your unloading zone and take your belongings to a corral, if needed, where they are held until you receive your key. You will not be able to park your vehicle, so the driver must stay in your vehicle. Students who arrive without anyone else will have volunteers unload their vehicle and bring belongings to the corral.

After your vehicle is unloaded, you or your driver will be directed to park at Autzen Stadium. Shuttles are available to bring you or your driver back to campus to move-in and will be available to take you back.

Checking In

At your check-in location for your residence hall, you will be greeted by University Housing staff to provide you with your key or fob to your residence hall room. You will need your UO ID or government–issued ID.

Once you check-in, you can move-in to your hall! Your belongings may be located in the corral where you can pick them up and volunteers will help you take them into your residence hall.

Submit your ID Photo

Don't forget to submit your ID photo right away if you have not already done so! You will need your UO ID card to access your meal plan and the doors to your residence hall.

All students

COVID-19

We strongly encourage students to:

  • Test for COVID-19 prior to arriving on campus. If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they should remain home through the full isolation period.
  • Bring COVID-19 at-home tests with you to campus to use as needed.
  • Prior to moving in, make an isolation plan, including talking with roommates, so that everyone is prepared if someone tests positive for COVID-19.
