Parent & Family Resources

The University of Oregon residence halls are more than just a place to live. University Housing works to support your student not just in terms of lodging and dining, but also in their growth as individuals. We take this task very seriously and appreciate the trust you give us by having them live on campus.

Staying in Touch

Students love mail and care packages, especially during the first few terms. Send mail or visit for a weekend.

Parent & Family Programs

The University of Oregon is commited to partnering with parents and families. One way you can partner with us is to join the Parent and Family Association (PFA). The PFA is a group of Duck Families who have made the choice to be active and engaged with their student's university. We want to enhance programs and services provided to our parents and family members. You can join the PFA for a one-time membership fee that is collected to provide increased accessibility, services, and events for families.

Parent Events

Throughout the year there are a number of events we invite parents and families to come to campus and enjoy. The events range from Parents' Day Off, to Homecoming, and family weekend. Visit our parent and family events page for the dates.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

As a parent, you should understand your rights and the rights of your student, as well as the limitations of your involvement in your student's life away from home under the law. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act limits the information that can be shared with you without your student's expressed consent. University Housing staff members will be able to discuss policies and regulations in general terms but will be unable to provide specific information about your student. Please urge your student to work with staff members when concerns arise and maintain open communication with you to ensure they have a positive living experience. For more information about FERPA visit The Office of the Registrar's privacy website.
