Background and areas of interest:
What brought you to the University of Oregon?
I came to the UO to pursue my masters of fine art in creative writing. After graduate school I worked at colleges in New Hampshire as an instructor, tutor, and late-night librarian before returning to Eugene.
How did you get involved in academic advising?
As a first-generation college student, I came to campus with a lot of misconceptions about the purpose of education. As an advisor I’m able to help students explore courses, majors, and other experiences that speak to their values or expand their perspectives.
What’s the best advice you have for a college student?
Build yourself a community of smart people with diverse passions and keep asking questions. You belong here, and your questions are important.
How can students contact you?
I’m in Global Scholars Hall 118 on Thursday evenings 5:00–7:00 p.m., and I’ll reach out to you with an invitation to schedule online. You can also call or stop by the Office of Academic Advising in 101 Oregon Hall to schedule an appointment during the week 541-346-3211.
