Connecting Game Consoles

Gaming consoles must be registered following the steps below in order to connect to the UO network. Once registered gaming consoles can connect to the wireless network Resnet IOT or by plugging an Ethernet cable from the console to the wired jack on the access point. After registering the device should be restarted.

Find the MAC Address

The network settings on the console will list separate MAC addresses for wired and wireless connections. You will need to register the MAC address for which type of connection is going to be used.

PlayStation

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select View Connection Status.
  4. Make note of the MAC Address for wired or wireless.

Xbox

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Make note of the MAC Address for wired or wireless.

Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch typically connects by wireless as they are a mobile console. If a wired connection is wanted, some Switch docks come with a dedicated Ethernet port, while others would need a supported USB Ethernet adapter.

  1. From the Switch Home screen select System Settings.
  2. In the System Settings menu select Internet from the sidebar.
  3. Select the Internet Settings menu, then choose Wireless or Wired Connection.
  4. Make note of the MAC address listed as either Wireless or LAN Adapter.

Registering the MAC address

Now that the MAC address has been identified, it must be registered following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Device Registration Page.
  2. Sign in with your Duck ID and password associated with it.
  3. Click Create Device at the top left.
  4. Enter the MAC address, Device name, and Notes.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. A finished page will show. Double check that the MAC address matches your device.
