Connecting Smart TVs

Cable television is available in lounges in the residence halls. In student rooms smart TVs can be connected by ethernet cable.

A TV can connect to the UO network through an ethernet cable and device registration. When registering a TV the wired MAC address must be used. A TV without an ethernet port must use a USB 2.0 to ethernet adapter. To see if the TV has ethernet or supports USB adapters, please refer to the owner’s manual or manufacturer.

Steps to Connect a TV

The TV menu steps may vary by brand.

  1. On the TV menu: go to Settings.
  2. Select “Network.”
  3. Find the Wired or Ethernet MAC address.
  4. Find the “Wired MAC Address.”
  5. Register the MAC address for use on the campus network at ise-guest.uoregon.edu.

If the TV does not have an Ethernet port, a USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter can be used. The adapter will need to be registered on our site. To find the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter, connect it to a PC and follow the steps in the links below.
