Why do I have a hold on my account?
This could potentially be for many different reasons, so to make sure you’re addressing it with the right people, check the hold reason on Duckweb. If it’s from a conduct case, it will have a ten-digit case number followed by the case manager’s initials, for example, 2024123401–AB. We do apply holds if students do not complete their assigned educational outcomes by the deadline, and these will prevent all registration action until removed.
I have a registration hold on my student account from a conduct case. How do I get it removed?
If you have a hold from a conduct case, it probably means we assigned you some educational outcomes that were not completed by the deadline. You would have received a letter telling you what outcomes you were assigned, how to complete them, and when your deadline was. Usually we send an in violation letter, then an overdue outcomes letter when the deadline passes, then a hold placed letter two business days later. You can always email your case manager or someone from the Conduct and Care team at housingconduct@uoregon.edu to have letters re-sent to you.
Can you remove my hold so I can register for or drop classes?
We will remove your hold after you have completed the assigned outcomes/sanctions or paid the fines. In rare cases, we can grant an exception and remove a hold from our team. This has typically only been granted when someone is leaving the university and not returning or if there is a medical emergency that has impacted someone’s ability to engage in a timely manner. You will not be granted an exception just because you didn’t read your email, because your enrollment window is closing, or because you didn’t think the case was fair.
I need to add/drop/change a class now and I have a hold on my account. Can you take it off even if I haven’t completed my required outcomes?
No, we will not remove a hold until all outcomes are completed. If that means you will not be able to take registration action, speak with an academic advisor to understand your options and next steps.
I did everything to get my hold removed but it’s still there. What can I do?
Our team works during business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and we review outcome submissions in the order in which they are submitted, usually within two business days. Around registration deadlines, volume of submissions greatly increases, so it can take more time to get a submitted outcome reviewed. Also keep in mind that just because you submitted an outcome doesn’t mean the case manager will approve it. We recommend completing outcomes as soon as possible so you don’t end up against registration deadlines. If everything goes right the first time and we’re able to review things on our optimal timeline, you can expect it to take about five business days to get your hold removed.
