What brought you to the University of Oregon?
I came to UO for graduate school—I finished my master's in English in 2006 and my doctorate in 2014. I also came for the rain—I love it!
How did you get involved in academic advising?
I taught collegiate writing and literature for ten years before realizing that my favorite part of the job was the one-on-one appointments with students where we got to talk about their goals and make plans to work towards them. The move towards advising grew out of that realization.
What’s the best advice you have for a college student?
Ask for help. You belong to a community rich with people who want to help you work towards your goals. Don’t hesitate to reach out! Also, be open to trying new things beyond the classroom—make the most of this time.
How can students contact you?
Students can schedule appointments or reach me by phone by calling 541-346-3211 or stop by the Office of Academic Advising in 101 Oregon Hall or by email at email@example.com.
