Bed Lofting Information

Beds in some of our buildings and room types have the ability to be lofted, which means raising the bed to a height between 50 and 60 inches. This gives students additional floor space.

If students are assigned to a double, single, or suite-style room in Barnhart Hall, Earl Hall, Global Scholars Hall, or Justice Bean Hall, they can submit the Loft Request in My Housing starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 22. These requests are a first-come, first-served process as there are limited kits available.

Buildings and room types without loft availability

  • Students who are assigned to a triple room configuration cannot request for their bed to be lofted (or unlofted) as triples are set up in a way to maximize space within the room by default.

  • If students are in Carson Hall, Hamilton Hall, or Riley Hall, their beds cannot be lofted.

Self-adjustable loft beds

  • Students living in the Living Learning Center, the New Residence Hall, or Unthank Hall will not need to request to have their bed lofted. Beds in these buildings are self-adjusting and do not need additional equipment. Please review the instructions on how to loft or unloft this bed type.
